CONFINEMENT

this is my first time blogging since i closed down my teenage years' blog nine or ten years ago (yes, it was a total cringe). i write in english and indonesian, i use lapslock a lot unless i'm writing stories.

what does your URL mean?

karunaksara is a made-up word by me.
karun, as in harta karun (treasure), originates from story of a rich man named qarun who died and got buried with his golds and wealth over him as a punishment by God (because he is one petty man).
so i add aksara, which means letters (huruf) in indonesian, to represent a person who has a huge amount of letters and words on them. so to say, if i'm dead and got buried with my words over me, i don't really mind.

what does your blog title mean?

confinement means the state of being confined, restrained. i think of writing as an act of confining floating ideas inside the brain. hence, the title (more about this goes here). but recently i found out that confinement also means giving birth in archaic language. so it's perfect for what i do: capturing ideas and giving birth to words.

what will become of this blog?

i am still pretty unsure about what kind of posts i will make here. my life is not very exciting at the moment, but since i enjoy books and movies and music a lot, i might review them one or two every two months. i write poems and prose, too. i like taking pictures and attach pretty words on them so i might also do that. basically it's a medium for me to practice and attempt writing regularly and keep track of them.
